DANCE
COMPETITIONS!
Each year several of the Just Dance Academy dancers compete at dance competitions in the San Francisco
bay area. Dancers who have been with the Just Dance program 1 full year in Jazz and are 3rd grade or older are eligable
to audition for competition classes.
Dance competition provides opportunities for dancers to perform at larger
theatres, observe other dancers & routines from different studios in Marin & the bay area as well as to challenge
themselves to improve their own dance abilities.
All dance competition companies are carefully selected to ensure
a positive experience for all dancers. Selected competitions and date information announced in September. Dancers
must be enrolled in both a weekly ballet and jazz class to compete.
Competition Requirements for Dancers
Jazz Competition - 1 jazz class per week, 1 ballet class per week plus team
practice per week or solo/duet/trio practice every other week
Ballet Competition- 2 ballet classes
per week plus group practice each week or solo/duet/trio practice every other week
Tap Competition - 1 ballet class per week, 1 tap class per week plus group practice
each week or solo/duet/trio practice every other week.
Contract
signed by parent regarding missed lessons and committment to competitions as set forth for the year.
*Dancers who compete should consider dance their main extra-curricular activity.
*Dancers
who compete are considered intensive dancers which requires more training than recreational dance.
